This week, we’re interviewing a new staff member who said “I feel so welcomed at Premier Homecare and am really enjoying my role as a Home Care Assistant in Bristol.”
Elinor Hannam joined us having not worked in care before, but wanting to work locally to her Westbury-on-Trym home. She got in touch with our Westbury-on-Trym office and has been working as a Home Care Assistant in Bristol for seven months.
How did you come across Premier Homecare?
“I live locally to the Westbury office, and having finished my A-Levels wanted to do work in healthcare during my Gap Year. I’ve been past the Premier Homecare offices so often, and attended my interview there too.”
What was the recruitment process like at Premier Homecare?
“I attended a lovely interview which felt more like an informal chat. I was offered a Home Care Assistant position and given an initial two-week shadowing programme, as part of my 3-month induction. I hadn’t worked in care before, so I was quite nervous.”
How did the induction and training go at Premier Homecare?
“I was given superb in-house training which covered everything you need to know, including first aid, medication management and manual handling- ensuring that all the relevant topics for the care certificate were covered.”
“During my initial two weeks, I shadowed a trainer for a week, and was then shadowed myself whilst working full shifts.”
What made you decide to work in the care sector in Bristol?
“I’m going to study Medical Science at University after my Gap Year and wanted to work in care. It gives me hands-on experience and the ability to save money. I also hope to work with Premier Homecare during my college holidays.”
What has really impressed you so far about Premier Homecare?
“The Home Care Assistants in Bristol are treated really well. I’ve never felt stressed or worried at any point, and the helpdesk is amazing. I also really like how the client visits are a minimum of one hour with all travel time between client visits being paid at the full rate.”
“There is a massive level of support and the weekly rotas are so well organised. Some of the visits can be a cup of tea and a chat, doing laundry, or full personal care. I work with up to six clients per day, it’s really varied.”
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
“I feel so welcomed at Premier Homecare, and am really enjoying my role as a Home Care Assistant in Bristol. Everyone is so supportive.”
